Privacy policy
Last updated: 31 October 2026
Waslla lets people reach the owner of a car or item without either side sharing a phone number. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have — first for people who use the Waslla app, then for visitors who scan a sticker.
If you use the Waslla app
What we collect
Your email address, your password (stored only as a secure hash), your display name, language and theme. The items you register: type, nickname, description and, if you add them, vehicle make, model, year, colour, plate number, a photo and a phone number for call or WhatsApp buttons. The stickers linked to your items and their subscription dates. Your conversations with visitors, photos and videos in them, and your ready-made replies. Your notification settings, the push token and name of your device, your signed-in sessions, and a record of the terms you accepted.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, your contacts, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking tools. We do not sell your data.
Why we use it
To run your account, deliver visitors’ messages and notifications to you, keep the service safe from spam and abuse, answer support requests, and meet legal obligations.
What visitors see
Only what you choose to show for each item. Your email, name and account are never shown. Your phone number appears only if you turn on the call or WhatsApp button for that item.
Who else processes it
DigitalOcean hosts our servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Cloudflare provides our network, domain, email forwarding and encrypted off-site backups. Resend sends our emails. Expo, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service deliver push notifications. Each only processes data to provide its service to us. Our staff can see account data only when needed for support or moderation, and that access is logged.
How long we keep it
Your account is kept until you delete it. When you delete it, it is disabled at once and erased after 14 days. Messages are kept for up to 12 months, photos and videos for up to 90 days, usage statistics for up to 13 months, and security and audit records for up to 2 years. Backups are overwritten within 14 days.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your details, export your data and delete your account from Settings › Privacy & data in the app, or by following the steps at waslla.app/delete-account. You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by emailing support@waslla.app. You may also complain to the data protection authority (in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Data & AI Authority, SDAIA).
If you message an owner from a sticker
What we collect
The reason you choose, your message, any photos you attach (with location and camera metadata removed) and the optional name you provide. We also keep a one-way keyed hash of your network address to prevent spam and enforce blocks.
What the owner sees
Only your message, photos and chosen name. The owner never sees your network address, device or location, and you never see theirs.
How long we keep it
Messages: up to 12 months. Photos: up to 90 days. Network-address hashes: up to 30 days (longer only if the owner blocked you). Reply links expire after 30 days.
Why we process it
To deliver your message to the owner and to keep the service safe from abuse, under our legitimate interests and, where required, your consent.
Your rights
You can ask us to access or delete data linked to your conversation by contacting support with your reference number. We may retain records where the law requires it.
Not an emergency service
Waslla does not alert emergency services. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in Saudi Arabia).
For everyone
Security
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes, network addresses only as one-way keyed hashes, and every staff action is recorded.
Children
Waslla is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will tell app users in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
